| MDM aka Mobile Device Management | Acronym for a centralized administrative information system for mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. |
| Enrolled alias Registered | Term used to indicate a device associated with an MDM server. |
| Enrollment alias Enroll alias Registration | Term used to indicate the procedure for associating the device with an MDM server. |
| Supervised aka Supervised | Term used to indicate a device configured and administered by an organization or institution. |
| Supervision aka Supervision | Term used to indicate the procedure for assigning the administration of an organization or institution to one or more devices. |
| Placeholder alias Device Placeholder | Term used to indicate an unregistered device, which is inserted in MDM by specifying a unique identifier such as the SERIAL. The purpose is to allow the effective Registration only to the elements inserted as Placeholders. A Placeholder becomes a regularly Registered device after the enrollment procedure. |
| Over The Air | A term used to indicate the delivery of a particular resource via the internet, wherever the device is located. |
